I created a Poll to see what grades we are teaching in TEAM. I am curious to see how many teach each grade. Please complete the poll if you visit this blog! Thank you!

I like the poll. Although I don't teach now, it would be interesting to see the results :) I bet there are more elementary level teachers than secondary!

Your poll indicates that more TEAM members work with elementary students. As a TEAM member I use a lot of what we've learned in class with my elementary students.

On a related note, I'm often concerned that my students are going to go into technology withdrawal once they leave my fifth grade class. We're avid bloggers, podcasters, skypers and now vodcasters.

How is TEAM changing the way you teach? Will your students go into technology withdrawal once they leave you? How do you think that affects your students' new teachers?

Christine you raise a valid point! Fortunately my students wont go through withdrawal from technology in my classes as long as I am there because I am the technology teacher. However, I do see the concern with the classroom teachers. I have seen some of the effects of students who are so used to the teacher who uses technology and then goes to a teacher who doesn't. The students go through what I call a language barrier. The language is technology as their first "language" it takes some time for the students to get used to. On the same note these students open up the mind of this teacher who has not used technology before by begging and pleading to use technology. I have seen some teachers in my school start using the smartboard only because their students begged for it. It wasn't coming from the administration, the urge to do it came from the students. The students are actually teaching the teachers how to use some of the technologies in which they have been exposed to.
Team is changing the way I teach by showing me more and more to do with the students and teachers. It is allowing me to introduce new ideas and topics to the students.

Don't forget about us library media specialists! I don't think there are any others on the Herricks team :(, but we interact with the whole school in which we are placed.
